THE BATTLE OF BLYTHE ROAD
a new musical by Hannah Fairchild
Presented as a part of The Gallery Players’ Overtures program, The Battle of Blythe Road is a rock musical based loosely on the artists and weirdos of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The Order was active at the turn of the 20th century, but their fascination with the occult and belief in the power of art to spur social change have resurfaced over and over again throughout history…
In the musical, Tsebiyah plays Pixie, a character loosely based on Pamela Colman Smith, the largely unsung Black woman who illustrated the world’s most famous tarot deck, still widely used today. Tsebiyah has been involved with the production since 2023. It has been presented in reading or concert form at Greenroom 42, and last year, at Prospect Musicals' IGNITE Festival. This March at the Gallery Players, the piece will be on its feet for the first time.
